Hot air balloon rides, historical towns, penguins - what more could you ask for? It’s not just the lush scenery which will blow you away! Victoria has holiday options to please everyone, whether you’re looking for family fun or a little rest and relaxation.
Family Fun
Phillip Island is a crowd pleaser for a family-friendly getaway. There are - of course - the penguins, but the area is also home to a koala conservation centre at the Churchill Island Reserve. If you want to get even more of a fill of nature and wildlife, Phillip Island Coastal Reserve is the perfect spot for a hike and picnic. On Phillip Island, you’ll also find a chocolate factory which will give you the opportunity to make your own chocolate (yes please)! Make your way to Portsea for snorkelling or surfing in the bay and surf beaches, followed by a drink at the Portsea hotel, overlooking the water.
Adventure
Barely 90 minutes from Melbourne, Ballarat is perfect for anyone wanting to escape the city for something totally different. Ballarat itself is a gold rush era town, with the mid-19th century architecture and streets making it feel like you’ve taken a step back in time. Free yourself of cabin fever with a hike through Lerderderg State Park, which offers 14 hiking trails through native bush and along lazy waterways. The park has plenty of camping opportunities if you’re wanting to spend a bit more time in the great outdoors, otherwise shack up at one of the many historic hotels, in this quirky central Australian town!
Rest, relaxation and romance
Time for a romantic getaway? Make your way to Yarra Valley for a long weekend filled with adventure! For all you connoisseurs of wine and beer, there are a number of wineries and breweries to frequent (our recommendations are Bridge Road Brewers, Reed & Co Distillery, and All Saints Estate). After a day of tasting the finest that Yarra Valley has to offer, why not kick back at Piaf Day Spa for a bit of R&R? Tarra Warra Museum of Art is an amazing place to experience some exceptional art and culture, or if you’re looking for something a little different, why not experience Yarra Valley from the heights of a hot air balloon?
