Hit the road in Bavaria with a Memmingen Airport car rental
Memmingen is a small German city in the beautiful Bavaria region, close to some favourite tourist hotspots such as Lake Constance, Neuschwanstein Castle and the Black Forest. The medieval Old Town is a charming place to wander, there are many excellent municipal parks formed where the historic moats were filled in, and the city is central to the rolling hills of the Allgau region which is great for day walks and hikes.
A car rental from Memmingen can take you to many great places in southern Germany and beyond. Munich is a short drive away, as is Stuttgart, and the famously lovely Nuremberg lies not far to the north. It’s a quick trip across to Austria or Switzerland for a bi-country road trip. Driving on the Autobahn is a new experience for many self-drive travellers - but the high-speed highways are great for a cross-country adventure!

Germany driving tips
● Drive on the right-hand side of the road and overtake on the left.
● The Autobahns famously have no speed limits, but there are limits posted in some dangerous sections - and bad weather also means temporary speed limits, so keep your eyes peeled for signs.
● The blood alcohol concentration limit for drivers in Germany is 0.05%. This is quite low, so we recommend laying off the beer and other beverages completely before getting behind the wheel.
● It gets cold and snowy during the winter in Germany, so if you are visiting around Christmas time and the following months, read up on our winter driving tips.
