Getting around Malta from Malta International Airport
Due to its geographically small size, one can easily access the entire island of Malta by car. From the southeast end at Malta Airport, drive 45 minutes northwest, and you’ll wind up at Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal. Or, take the number 1 north for 16 minutes, and you’ll find yourself at the Valletta City Gate. For specific directions and street names, we recommend hiring a GPS and carrying a paper road map of the island as a backup.

Parking options at Malta Airport and in Malta
Malta Airport has parking for both short and long-term stays. At the parking lot entrance, take a ticket from the dispenser and pay inside by credit card. Keep the paid ticket with you as you will need it to exit the parking lot. Parking is permitted in spaces indicated for ‘Blue Badge’ holders.
While both on-street parking and parking lots are available on the island, it can be difficult to find a spot, especially in high-tourist areas. However, many localities offer the convenience of a park and ride option located just outside city walls. Should you choose this option, you can park your rental and walk, or take the shuttle bus into the city.
